The New James Dean Memorial Gallery Relocated from Fairmount, is now located at the crossing of I-69 and Hwy. 22. There are restaurants conveniently located nearby, only 9 or 10 miles from us. The art deco-style gallery and Museum is a complete collection about the life of James Dean born in Fairmount Indiana. His gravesite is still in Fairmount. Mounds State Park , located off I-69 east of Anderson, features 10 unique "earthworks" built by a group of prehistoric Indians known as the Adena-Hopewell people. The largest earthwork, the "Great Mound", is believed to have been constructed around 160 B.C. Archaeological surveys seem to indicate it was used as a gathering place for religious ceremonies.
Be sure to include time to visit the new Nature Center. The new building includes a bird viewing room, small animal displays and much more.
Entry Fee is $4 for Indiana Residents and $5 for all others.
